Our services

Miro Sozialdienste GmbH is an independent provider of child, youth and family welfare services based in Leverkusen. We deliver outpatient services under section 27 et seq. of the German Social Code VIII (SGB VIII) for children, young people, young adults and families in Leverkusen, Cologne and the Rhein-Berg district. Outpatient support under SGB VIII

Our services comprise school support, educational assistance under section 30 SGB VIII, social educational family support under section 31 SGB VIII, intensive individual support under section 35 SGB VIII, support for young adults under section 41 SGB VIII and follow-up support under section 41a SGB VIII. All services are outpatient, meaning they take place in the familiar environment of the children, young people and families. Scope and duration depend on the need established in the individual case.

For families, youth welfare offices and schools

Families come to us with questions about parenting, everyday organisation and school. Youth welfare offices have dedicated contacts here for case referrals and assistance planning. Schools approach us for the support of individual pupils during lessons.

Access and assistance planning

Outpatient educational support is normally initiated through the responsible youth welfare office. Goals, scope and review of the support are agreed jointly in the assistance planning procedure under section 36 SGB VIII. We document the process, take part in assistance planning meetings and coordinate continuously with everyone involved.

Languages and intercultural work

Our staff speak Albanian, Arabic, German, English, Croatian, Kurdish (Kurmanji and Sorani), Persian, Serbian and Turkish, among others. We use these language skills to make communication easier during the support process. This is not a commitment that any given case will be handled in a particular language; assignment depends on availability in the individual case.

Frequently asked questions

Is outpatient youth welfare the same as social assistance?

No. Our services are part of child and youth welfare under SGB VIII. They support families and young people with parenting, development, participation and independence. Social assistance under SGB XII concerns other support needs, such as securing a livelihood. The youth welfare office is the first point of contact for our youth welfare services.

How can I get outpatient support in Leverkusen, Cologne or the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis?

Contact the youth welfare office responsible for your place of residence or its General Social Service (ASD). There you can discuss your situation and which support is suitable. Miro Sozialdienste operates in Leverkusen, Cologne and the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis. You can also contact us directly to clarify our services and the next steps. The youth welfare office decides on approval.

Who pays for Miro Sozialdienste's outpatient support?

If the youth welfare office approves the relevant outpatient youth welfare service, it covers the costs of the agreed educational support. Families and young people are generally not charged a contribution for these outpatient services. Scope and funding are clarified with the responsible youth welfare office before support begins; making contact alone does not mean that costs will be covered.

Can I suggest Miro Sozialdienste as the provider?

Yes. Under your right to express a preference and choose, you can name a preferred provider to the youth welfare office. Whether Miro Sozialdienste provides the support depends, among other things, on individual needs, suitable capacity and coordination with the youth welfare office. Raise your preference as early as possible during the consultation.
